La Isla Palo Seco Costa Rica
A stretch of five miles of beaches awaits the travelers who journey to La Isla Palo Seco. Palo Seco is bounded on two sides by dry deserts, on one side by tropical rain forests, and on a fourth side by the waters of the Pacific. The forests and the ocean provide the visitor to Palo Seco with wonderful, exciting entertainment.
Visitors in La Isla Palo Seco can fish either on the beach or in the estuary. The estuary contains many mangrove canals. Some of the visitors to Palo Seco travel through those canals in a canoe. Other visitors view the sights of the canals while on a motorboat tour. Both groups of visitors enjoy the sweetness of the tropical fruits that hang from the forest trees.
Following either a canoe ride or a motorboat tour, a visitor might want to visit the Cara Biological Reserve. That reserve is located close to La Isla Palo Seco. The reserve holds fascinating discoveries for botanists, birding enthusiasts and geologists.
The Reserve contains a spectacular biodiversity. A population of 300 Scarlet Macaws has found protection in the Reserve. The Cara River feeds a U-shaped lake, in which some crocodiles swim idly. At least 750 plant species flourish inside of the Cara Reserve.
The Cara Biological Reserve contains three different soil types. In one section of the Reserve lies the volcanic soil. In another section one finds soil rich in limestone. In those sections near the shore, one finds alluvial soil.
