Ojochal, Costa Rica

The town is also surrounded by a stunning mountain range. A relaxed and inviting little place, Ojochal is steeped in local customs and authentic Tican atmosphere while offering numerous tourist activities for visitors, including bird watching,canopy tours, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking, mountain tours, scuba diving, snorkeling, sport fishing, swimming, sunbathing and whale watching.

Other attractions in the area include an abundance of bars and restaurants, and even a small discotheque, and there is a wide range of accommodations available ranging from high end hotels to lower priced bed and breakfast establishments. There is even a (recently opened) small marina nearby, on the mouth of the Terraba river, which includes a floating restaurant that has already received some wonderful reviews, so be sure to stop by there! Orjochal also features such obvious necessities as a local supermarket, hardware store and, of course, a liquor store!

The town is accessible by road from the Costa Rica capital city of San Jose, a drive which takes around four hours in total but is very enjoyable and scenic.
