Playa Carate, Costa Rica

Playa Carate is also very popular with surfers, thanks to its exposed beach break which makes for very consistent surf. Despite the place's growing popularity, the beach is rarely crowded. Other attractions in the general area include the stunning Corcovado National Park, which it is practically next door to, being situated close to the La Leona Ranger Station on the eastern end of the Park.

Tourists will have the chance to witness some amazing sights in Playa Carate, including watching many species of turtles, including Green Sea turtles, Hawksbill sea turtles, Leatherback sea turtles and Pacific Ridley sea turtles, come on the beach to nest and lay their eggs. The trees in the area are also home to many squirrel monkeys.

Activities available in or around the town include hiking and deep sea fishing, Playa Carate has no shortage of accommodations available, with everything from hotels, lodges and resorts for all kinds of budgets and the area is accessible from many different directions, even having its own airport which you can fly into straight from Costa Rica's capital city of San Jose.
