Hone Creek, Costa Rica

The most prominent tourist attraction in Hone Creek is the rainforest retreat that is located in the forest just behind the village. This Biological Reserve, which overlooks the Caribbean Sea, is situated about four miles from the Hone Creek beach, the area covering over two hundred and fifty acres of land, surrounded by beautiful gardens, with lots of shade from the abundant vegetation and with a constant breeze.

There are numerous activities available, with everything from a rainforest canopy adventure, surfing lessons, a guided bird watching tour, river and sea kayaking, horseback riding on the beach, white water rafting, a shaman tour and cacao trail, and trips to the nearby Cahuita National Park, the Samasati Biological Reserve, and the Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve, which is the first community, which features typical homes, an iguana project, bird viewing station, and a cultural and scientific station.

Kekoldi covers over five thousand hectares of land and is just one part of the Talamanca Caribbean Biological Corridor, which protects more than thirty six thousand hectares of land in total. Visitors to the reserve who also enjoy a good hike can wear themselves out by doing just that to go and see the impressive waterfall located on a private reserve within the project.
