If you want to get away from crowds and you want to spend you days on deserted beaches then you should look into this vacation spot. This long beach is great for strolls and enjoying sunsets. When the sea is rough and the waves are up the beach is a bit dangerous for swimming. However, when the sea is calm you can swim in the water.

The nearest airport to the beach with regular flights is Tamarindo. From there you can take a taxi to Playa Junquillal. The trip is about forty minutes and costs about thirty-five to forty dollars. If you want to arrive by bus you need to head to Santa Cruz first and then from there take a bus to Playa Junquillal. From San Jose you can take a bus to Santa Cruz and they leave every hour between six am and six pm. The bus trip is typically four hours and costs about five dollars.

From Santa Cruz buses leave for Playa Junquillal at ten-thirty and two. This ride takes around an hour and costs about a dollar fifty. Returning buses to Santa Cruz from Playa Junquillal leave at six and noon. You should always check with your rental management or hotel in advance since the buses scheduled between Junquillal and Santa Cruz may change. If you miss a bus or if there are not buses running then you can take a taxi for about twenty-five to thirty dollars.
