Playa Coyote
A virgin tropical paradise, Playa Coyote is practically filled to overflowing with animal life, sunsets and glorious waves. A remote but beautiful location situated on the western coast of Costa Rica in the Nicola Peninsula, halfway between the beach resorts of Malpais and Samara. Playa Coyote is a long bay, shaped like a horse shoe, with soft sand, tall coconut trees, and an extraordinary mangrove estuary bursting with numerous exotic varieties of bird life.
There are numerous activities for tourists to take part in once they have arrived in Playa Coyote, with shallow and tranquil waters that are ideal for swimming, surfing and other water based activities. There are spectacular sunsets and numerous opportunities to spot the magnificent local wildlife on the beach or in the forest, examples of which include the howler and white-faced monkey, iguanas, flamingos, frigates and even wild boar. There are several bat colony caves to explore, or perhaps horseback or even mountain bike riding for those wanting even more physically exerting pastimes.
Playa Coyote is accessible from Playa Naranja on the eastern side of the peninsula, or from Samara on the northern side of the peninsula. An ordinary car should be sufficient to get there by road during the dry season, although a four wheel drive vehicle is advisable if attempting the journey during the rainy season. All in all, Playa Coyote is an ideal vacation spot for families or anyone seeking to explore the wonders of nature or just somewhere beautiful where they can truly lie back and relax.
