Playa Langosta Costa Rica
All of the beachfront property in Langosta has been sold and soon building will stop so peace and quiet should be restored to this beautiful place. Playa Langosta years ago used to be a quiet turtle nesting beach, but it is not an upscale extension of the nearby town of Tamarindo. The two places are connected by a heavily traveled road. At high tide the Playa Langosta beach is separated from the Tamarindo Beach by a rocky headland.
Most of the development is occurring behind a group of mangrove trees so the beach view is not disturbed. Most of the sand on this beach is coarse, black pulverized rock and shell. In front of the Barcelo Resort however the sand is whiter and softer.
During low tides you can walk across the San Francisco estuary and walk up the tidal river. On these walks you can spot several exotic birds including the egret, blue herons, sandpipers and white-lored gnatcatchers that are local to the area. In the morning the beach is quiet and perfect for solitary walks. There is a big, well-shaped river mouth that creates great waves for those who want to surf.
Playa Langosta is known for its amazing surfing and beautiful beachfront bed and breakfast resorts and few vacation rentals. Playa Langosta is a lovely area to have fun while enjoying the beauty of the beach. It is a great place to spend a peaceful day strolling down the beach and watching the local birds. During the high season the beach can become crowded with tourists and locals.
