Cahuita, Costa Rica

There are a multitude of tourist attractions to visit in or around Cahuita, and with its neighbouring town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca rapidly growing in popularity to become one of the nation's premier tourist spots, more and more people are journeying over to savour the delights that Cahuita has to offer as well. These delights include not only the beaches and waters, which a perfect locale for swimming (Playa Negra, on the northwest of Cahuita, is a great spot), snorkeling (the underwater coral reef off the town is truly spectacular, with a veritable menagerie of colorful marine life, and there are plenty of dive rental shops in the area) or sports fishing.

For those who wish to venture beyond just the beach, there is an excellent, lush coastal forest nearby, the Mariposario de Cahuites is a beautiful butterfly garden that offers beautiful tours in many different languages, and of course, most famously, there is the Cahuita National Park, probably the most visited National Park in the whole of Costa Rica, which covers more than two and a half thousand land acres and fifty five marine acres, consisting of numerous types of forests and swamps.
