Heredia Costa Rica
During the Pre-Columbian times Heredia was occupied by the Huertar's Kingdom of Occident in the south and the Votos in the north. In 1706 several people from Cartago decided to live in Heredia and the first populations of the area started. The population first built a church with a straw roof called Cubujuqui. In 1801 the town was named in honor of a Spanish general who signed the degree of the foundation of Cubujuqui.
There are some industrial zones in the modern city of Heredia. The town is also the site of the National Center of Food Distribution or CENADA. However, most of the town is dedicated to growing agricultural crops such as coffee, vegetables, sugar cane, fruits, corn and beans. Heredia is the land of coffee-dappled countryside and city conveniences. Nicknamed the City of Flowers, the city is known for its spring-like temperatures and safe neighborhoods. It's also one of Costa Rica's most popular expat hotspots. There is some dairy farming as well as some flower and plant exportation.
There is a University in Heredia. Part of the National Park Braulio Carrillo is in Heredia. There is a lot of rain forests around the town as well as a lot of distinct local flora and fauna.
The town features a pleasant climate, especially during the summer season. The average temperature is twenty-two degrees Celsius and it is a little higher in the summer. It is situated in the central valley and the great planes. Heredia is the smallest province of Costa Rica.
The main attraction of Heredia is their church and plaza. However, there is the Ojo de Agua bathing spring and in the mountains you can find several places to enjoy beautiful views of the central valley. Its something to see on a clear night, gorgeous!!
