Manuel Antonio Costa Rica
If you are planning to visit the Manuel Antonio area, a good time to carryout such a visit would be in the month of late May and early June. It's a time for fun and festivity. In April, the residents of Manuel Antonio celebrate some special local holidays. On April 11th they celebrate Juan Satamiria Day. The celebrations on that day serve as a reminder of the rejoicing that took place in 1806, when the residents of that area took to heart their good fortune.
Juan Santamria celebrates the victory over William Walker. A different holiday celebrates something that bears no resemblance to a Mexican victory. An April the 7th holiday celebrates the founding of the World Health Organization.
It is always fun to arrive in any city at the time of a holiday. To follow-through with such an arrival, however, one must plan ahead. The occasion of a holiday is when it is most difficult to find a hotel, to find a room.
One cannot always be as lucky as the man who visited Bahia, Mexico the last week of February. That was when they had the pre-Lent festival. All of the rooms were taken. Finally, the gentleman found a room that was about to be abandoned by band members. He got that room for his family.
Once one does get a room in Manuel Antonio, one has little reason to spend much time in that room. There is so very much to do in Manuel Antonio. One could begin by enjoying one of the area's professional tours. One could also start out on one of the area's well-tended trails.
A morning of touring or hiking might be followed with an afternoon of some water sport. Parasailing, surfing, sea kayaking and jet skiing are all hugely popular in Manuel Antonio. Islands not far from Manuel Antonio have volcanic reefs. Visitors to Costa Rica like to go snorkeling on those reefs.
Inland from the Pacific Coast, and adjacent to Manuel Antonio, is the Alto Quepo Forest Reserve. It offers the visitor a chance to experience the trying life of a Costa Rican farmer. Some students from the U.S. have come to that Reserve in order to experience the trying life of a bean picker.
If thoughts of such trials do not mesh with your idea of a vacation, then skip the visit to the Reserve. Instead, you might plan to learn more about the nightlife in Manuel Antonio. At night, this bustling coastal city offers a good meal and drink in a number of local restaurants. The city operates one casino, and it also treats the visitor to the music and dance of a more than one discotheque.
