Irazu

The volcano is a popular tourist spot, and is part of the Volcano Irazu National Park, the part that includes the volcano covering some two thousand, three hundred and nine hectares of land. The park itself has other attractions as well as just the volcano, including four hundred hectares of volcanic ash and scoria, as well as its beautiful, strangely tinted lake.

The park also features facilities such as bathrooms and picnic tables, as well as a snack wagon near the entrance. Half day trips to the park, including the volcano, can be arranged from various tour operators in Costa Rica, and there are many quaint hotels offering very reasonable rates and some spectacular views.

Other activities that can be arranged for interested tourists include horseback riding trips to the volcano, or just exploring the peaceful nearby oak forest. The Volcano Irazu National Park showcases a bizarre and truly one of a kind panoramic landscape that any visitors to Costa Rica could not fail to be impressed by.
