Playa Conchal Costa Rica

This is considered one of the most exotic beaches located on the Gold Coast of Costa Rica. Playa Conchal is located north of the Guanacaste province. The beach is separated from the rocky headland which is called Punta Conchal. The area gets its name from the sand found on the beach which is composed of hundreds of millions of tiny crushed shells.

You can fly from the capital of San Jose to the Tamarindo Domestic Airport. From there you can take a ten minutes taxi ride into the town. You can also take a taxi from the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, but it is a long forty-five minute drive. If you don't mind taking the time you can enjoy a scenic drive from San Jose to Playa Conchal, but it is over four hours.

Playa Conchal features almost perfect weather all year round. From December to April the beach has sunshine for almost twelve hours a day. The water is always a comfortable temperature which makes it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. If you know how to swim snorkeling is something you must do when visiting Playa Conchal.
