Playa Azul Costa Rica
Playa Azul is town with a population of few. The town features a beautiful tropical environment with beaches lined with palm trees and blue waves.
There are few hotels in this small town, but there is an abundance of seaside restaurants. There are a few unnamed dirt roads and a small paved road that runs parallel to the restaurants and the coastline on the beach. There are no fast food restaurants. The only stores are small booths that sell beachwear and sandals, jewelry and t-shirts. This is one disco in the town to keep the nightlife going and it is open on Friday and Saturday nights.
Next to a restaurant called The Pirate there is the Playa Azul Surf Club. The town is most known for its beautiful sunsets. The bars and restaurants are crowded nightly during the week ends with tourists and locals.
It is located thirty-three kms north west of Playa Samara. It is recommended to use a four wheel drive to get to this town especially during the rainy season. Some of the vacation rentals are in the more remote areas so you need to consider your transportation when shopping for places to stay.
The best place to stay in Playa Azul is one of the fine vacation rentals or The Sanctuary Resort and Spa. It is set in a tropical mango grove that has a private two story Key West style resort with many comfortable first class amenities.
If you are a person who prefers adventure then there are miles of rivers and nature trails that you can enjoy hiking or riding a bike. The town features a temperate year round climate with a variety of recreational opportunities.
